Nylatron is a part of the Cast Nylon 6 family. During the manufacturing of the Nylon 6 a small amount of molybdenum disulphide, a dry powder lubricant, is added to the Nylon which results in an increase in tensile strength, and a reduction in the coefficient of friction and linear expansion. This also improves the properties of wear and abrasion resistances, combined with a lower water absorption. However, the addition of molybdenum disulphide does have an adverse effect on the impact strength and “toughness” of the material.
